Black Drawing Chalks – Life Is A Big Holiday

Monstro Discos has just released the classic Life is a Big Holiday for Us, by Black Drawing Chalks, on vinyl. The album won a luxury edition, 180 grams, with a gatefold cover, which highlights the original art of the album, and also unpublished drawings made by the band members who are also part of bico Sem Freio.

Life is a Big Holiday For Us is the second album by Black Drawing Chalks from Goiás and was originally released on CD by Monstro in 2009. Produced by Fabrício Nobre and Gustavo Vasquez (members of MQN) and by Eduardo Ramos (ex-manager of Cansei de Ser Sexy), the album to this day is the band’s greatest success and was responsible for giving the great projection (even internationally) that the group achieved.

At the time, Rolling Stone magazine stated: “one of the best heavy rock records in Brazil in 2009 comes from the capital of Goiás. Us, the second album by Black Drawing Chalks, comes as a kick in the door in the national independent market”. The Rock in General website said: “The great lesson of this BDC album is to remember that underneath the indispensable scolding of rock, there is, above all, good music”.

One of the greatest highlights of the album was the opening song, My Favorite Way, elected by Rolling Stone as one of the best of 2009, and which won a video entirely in a cartoon made by the members in partnership with Nitrocorpz studio. The song, even today, is the main hit of the BDC and already counts more than 468,000 plays on Spotify alone. Besides My Favorite Way, Life also brings other songs that became the band’s hits, such as Leaving Home, My Radio, Free from Desire and I’m a Beast, I’m a Gun.
